How Long Must I Be Haunted?

Whatever it was that haunted me while making this piece, it was overwhelming enough to inspire this wild and hasty drawing. I remember laying down some wet-on-dry watercolor, and then leaping straight into the colored pencils and markers.

This piece is darker in palette than most of my work, but the subject matter fits right in with the kind of questions I was asking myself at that time. The lone superhero could be anyone. What will they use their immense power to do? Create? Destroy? Protect?

Where do you visit in your most wonderful dreams? This was the question I asked myself when I put paint to paper. I remember laying down the watercolor wet-on-dry and letting it sit for a while before I inked in the details.

Why Do Our Heroes Wear Masks?

To this day I'm not sure why the hero in this drawing has such a look of conflict on his face. I see something different in his eyes every time I look at him. Why did he choose to be a hero? Why the monstrous mask?
